On April 23, 2020, the BAPS Office of Public Affairs participated in a call arranged by the White House Office of Public Liaison on COVID-19 guidelines and response efforts. Participants included U.S. Attorney General William P. Barr, U.S. Surgeon General Jerome M. Adams, M.D., and other faith-based leaders. During the call, the Administration’s guidelines for reopening the country were presented and discussed. The guidelines include a three-phased approach, which would be based on data, readiness, and the discretion of governors, among other related factors. Furthermore, faith-based leaders provided input on actions being taken to help respond to the crisis and ensure the safety our respective communities and members. BAPS is offering input on how faith leaders are responding to this crisis, and we will continue to plan, prepare, and respond according to CDC guidelines as the pandemic evolves.
